There are some unfavorable points for Cat Genie as well. The unit needs to be hooked to a water source and an electrical outlet. For that reason it may be difficult for some to find a space appropriate for the machine. Cat Genie also demands special granules and cleaning cartridges, which can become a financial burden over time. As with the other system, there is still the possibility of the cat rejecting the system and refusing to use it.
Automatic litter boxes are great time savers, and they enable people to avoid the nastiness of cat waste as much as possible. For this reason alone many are willing to invest a chunk of change in the technology.
